National Sports Day 2020
KV Karnal is celebrating National Sports Day on 29th August on account of Birthday of Hockey wizard Major Dhyanchand. An Online Sports Quiz is being conducted and all the participating students shall be given e-generated participation certificates, Certificate of Merit shall be generated automatically for the students who scores 80% and above.

e-Raksha Competition 2020 by CBSE
Celebrating Digital Citizenship & Online Safety
This year, we are rolling out the second edition of the eRaksha Competition, which was first launched in 2019. The competition is a collaborative effort of the Cyber Peace Foundation and NCERT.

The idea behind the eRaksha Competition, is to provide a platform to netizens to share tips and strategies on:
- How to be Safe & Responsible Netizens
- How to address Fake News and Misinformation especially with regard to COVID-19
Where on one end technological innovations are adding value to our lives and making it easier, there has also opened up a diverse set of risks which were unfathomable a few years ago. We have been involved in various awareness campaigns over the last couple of years, and we learned that almost every second internet user has had an unpleasant experience online, creating an urgent need to build resilience.
Technology has done us good, and it is here to stay. So what we must focus on, is:
Developing an understanding of using the internet safely, critically and responsibly
Making conscious, smart and informed choices
Creating awareness about digital rights and responsibilities
Becoming model netizens by following digital ethics & netiquette
Through the competitions, we wish to encourage participation
across multiple levels in the education ecosystem – students from school and colleges, educators from various domains and caregivers to share innovative solutions to problems faced in cyberspace in the form of an artwork, a written piece, a video or even an invention.

74th Independence Day of India, 15 August 2020: History, Significance, Facts and Celebration
Independence day i.e. the 15th of August is declared as a national holiday which means every government office, post offices, banks and stores will remain shut.
History: India was ruled by the Britishers for many years. The East India Company ruled India for about 100 years. It was in 1757 when the East India Company won the battle of Plassey. It was after the win went the Company started exerting power over India. Our nation had its rebellion against the foreign rule for the first time in 1957. The entire country united against British power. It was an unfortunate event as India was defeated back then but after that time. Indian rule was then passed to the British who ruled our country till India got its independence. Our nation faced a long campaign to gain independence. Britain then began to weaken after two world wars and India was finally free. India's freedom struggle has always been an inspiration to the work as it was the most non-violent campaign in the world.
Significance: This day reminds us of all the sacrifices that were made by our freedom fighters in order to set India free from British rule. 15th August is a national holiday and the day is then celebrated with flag hoisting, parades and cultural events.
Facts: India has been independent for 73 years.

The Indian National Flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya who was one of the freedom fighters and also an agricultural from Andhra Pradesh.

Celebration: The national anthem is sung on this day, flag-rising ceremonies and drills are also conducted in every corner of the country. Indians make an effort to dress in a specific way to celebrate their nation and culture. Kite flying is another tradition that is followed on Independence Day with people of all age groups as participants. It represents the freedom that we achieved on this day. The Prime Minister of our country hoists our flag at the Red Fort in Old Delhi. A parade with members of the army and police also takes place. A speech to the nation is delivered by the PM where he speaks on the country's accomplishments in all these years. He even speaks about the goals for the future.
